Tom grew up in Cornwall and has always had a passion for the Cornish Countyside. He went to Seale-Hayne Agricultural College, part of Plymouth University, where he obtained a degree in Rural Resource Management (BSc (Hons) in 2005.
During his Degree, Tom worked in Cornwall for North Cornwall District Council's Countryside Service and the South West Lakes Trust. On completing his degree, Tom worked for a forestry contractor in Cornwall before moving to Northamptonshire to work for the County Council as a Countryside Ranger for two years. Tom always had a desire to return to Cornwall and started working for BTCV in Cornwall in 2007. During this time, Tom worked with a wide range of different landowners, inculding Cornwall Council, Natural England, The National Trust, the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, numerous Parish Councils, The South West Lakes Trust, as well as a number of private landowners.
Along with Tom's wealth of experience in Countryside Management, Tom has a number of recognised industry qualifications:
NPTC Chainsaw, Felling small, medium and large trees (CS30, 31, 32)
NPTC Chainsaw dealing with windblown trees (CS34)
NPTC Tree climbing and using a chainsaw in a tree (CS38 and 39)
NPTC Spraying (PA1 and 6(aw))
